Gunflint Lake - Mechanized

Cabins @ Heston’s Lodge
This mechanized trail maintenance trip will be doing a sweep from the connection with the Kekekabic Trail through to the boundary with the BWCAW. We’ll leave the Twin Cities on Thursday night, April 24th and return on Sunday night April 27th. Lodging will be provided by Heston’s Lodge.

Clearwater Lake – Non-mechanized

A trail maintenance trip to the BWCAW, leaving the evening of Friday May 9th, returning Monday May 12th. The group will drive up to the ranger cabin on Bearskin Lake and stay there Friday night. They will canoe 4 miles to the middle of Clearwater Lake, and camp at the Clearwater / Mountain portage. The maintenance area will be to the east of the portage. Transportation and all meals except those on the road will be provided.

Pine / Pike Lakes – Non-mechanized

We will be leading a trail maintenance trip to the BWCAW leaving the evening of Thursday May 15th, returning Sunday May 18th. The group will drive up to McFarland Lake and camp there Friday night. If the ice is out, they will canoe 6 miles to camp on Pine Lake near the Pine / Pike portage. A short hike up the portage will get to the Border Route Trail where they will clear to the west.
If the ice is not out they will clear from the McFarland trailhead and stay at the Mcfarland campsite. Transportation and all meals except those on the road will be provided.

This trail maintenance trip to the BWCAW will be leaving the evening of Thursday May 15th, returning Sunday May 18th. On Friday, the group will drive up to the ranger cabin on Bearskin Lake and will canoe/boat shuttle 6 miles to the east end of Clearwater Lake, then hike 1.5 miles to camp at Gogebec Lake. They will clear to the east from camp. Transportation and all meals except those on the road will be provided.

This mechanized trail maintenance trip will be doing a sweep of the Pigeon River Section of the BRT from McFarland Lake through to the connection with the Superior Hiking Trail. We’ll leave the Twin Cities on Thursday night, May 15th and return on Sunday night May 18th.

The BRTA is organizing a trail maintenance trip to the BWCAW leaving the evening of Thursday May 22nd, returning Monday May 26th. The group will drive up to the ranger cabin on Bearskin Lake and stay there Thursday night. They will canoe/boat shuttle 6 miles to the east end of Clearwater Lake, then hike 1.5 miles to camp at Gogebec Lake. They will clear to the east from camp. Transportation and all meals except those on the road will be provided.
