Take Action: What you can do to help Minnesota's parks and trails

The voters have spoken, now it is up to us to continue to stay involved in making it work. It is important that we begin the work of communicating with our legislators the principles and needs for Minnesota's parks and trails. As a park and trail leader, you are a credible source of information on how the Park and Trail Fund should be structured.

The 2009 legislative session is set to kick-off on Jan. 6. Between now and then, take time to talk to your legislators about the Park and Trail Fund. Make sure they know that the fund is intended to "supplement" traditional funding sources and levels. Let them know this new funding provides unique opportunities to invest in visitor services, facility maintenance, resource management and new ways to reconnect Minnesotans to the outdoors and extend Minnesota's outdoor heritage to future generations.
