House and Senate Committees set

While most of the media attention during this past election was focused on the presidential, U.S. Senate and congressional races, the entire Minnesota House of Representatives was also up for re-election. And though the overall makeup of the body did not change significantly, there are still 23 new members - 12 Republicans and 11 DFLers. The DFL had a net gain of two seats, increasing its majority to 87 seats. The Republicans will have 47 seats.

The House has changed its committee structure and there are new faces on these committees. In addition, the House has created a special committee called the Cultural and Outdoor Resources Finance Division Committee to deal with the Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment funds.

In the Senate, there were special elections for two seats, both of which were filled by DFLers.  Committees were changed a little in the Senate. The Legacy funding will go through traditional committee structures.
