Big Island State Park near Albert Lea, Minnesota is known for its rolling hills, shallow lakes and marshes. In 1976, the Parks & Trails Council donated $25,000 to leverage the same amount in private matching funds to purchase 61 acres and nearly 1 mile of Albert Lea Lake shoreline.
