Friends of the Big Bog State Recreation Area

The creation of the Big Bog State Recreation Area is a direct result of a grassroots initiative, which became a reality through cooperative partnerships involving numerous individuals, local civic groups, the township, several cities, the county, state agencies, the Red Lake Band of Chippewa Indians, and various funding partners.

The cooperators envision the Big Bog State Recreation Area as a catalyst that enhances eco-tourism for the entire State of Minnesota, and enables significant regional economic development opportunities.

Our mission: We will work with the people of Minnesota to manage Big Bog State Recreation Area so that its significant natural, cultural, and scenic resources are protected and enhanced for current and future generations while providing diverse and unique educational and recreational opportunities without negatively impacting park resources.
