2012 Parks and Trails Day on the Hill

February 28, 2012 9:00am - February 28, 2012 5:00pm

Register today for the annual Parks & Trails Day on the Hill

Minnesotans love our state’s world-class parks and trails. But will these outdoor treasures get the bonding investments they need this legislative session? With so many interests competing for attention at the Capitol, it is essential that legislators hear from you about how important parks and trails are to Minnesota.

Join us for Parks & Trails Day on the Hill Tuesday, Feb. 28 beginning at 9 a.m. As part of our 2012 Day on the Hill, the Parks & Trails Council is mobilizing park and trail supporters from around the state to encourage legislators to make the necessary and smart investments in our state’s prized park and trail systems that are so essential to our health, our economy and our way of life.

Help us further our bonding priorities by equipping yourself with information you can use in one-on-one discussions and correspondence with legislators.

Parks & Trails Day on the Hill is also your opportunity to network with other park and trail supporters from around the state, receive legislative updates and materials and hear from House and Senate Capital Investment Committee leadership, including House Chair Rep. Larry Howes, House DFL Lead Rep. Alice Hausman, Senate Vice Chair Sen. John Pederson and Senate Ranking Minority Member Sen. Keith Langseth. You will also hear from representatives for state, metro and Greater Minnesota parks and trails, including DNR Director for Parks and Trails Courtland Nelson, Dakota County Parks and Open Space Director Steve Sullivan and New Ulm Parks and Recreation Director Tom Schmitz.

The schedule provides for a briefing in the morning, lunch and afternoon meetings with legislators. For more information about Parks & Trails Day on the Hill or for legislator contact information, call Hlee at 651-726-2457. A nominal registration fee of $15 covers the cost of a morning snack, lunch and materials. Meetings with legislators should be scheduled in advance of the event to ensure legislators are available.
