Parks & Trails Day on the Hill

March 3, 2009 9:00am

Kelly Inn, 161 St. Anthony Avenue, St. Paul

Minnesotans treasure our interconnected systems of parks and trails. But more needs to be done to protect these outdoor treasures. Now that the Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment has passed and created a long-term, dedicated Park and Trail Fund, legislators need to hear from you about how this fund should be administered. You can tell them in person by attending Parks & Trails Day on the Hill Tuesday, March 3 beginning at 9 a.m. at the Kelly Inn, 161 St. Anthony Ave. in St. Paul. As part of our 2009 Day on the Hill, the Parks & Trails Council is mobilizing park and trail supporters from around the state to encourage legislators to make necessary and smart investments in the prized park and trail systems that are so essential to our health, our economy and our way of life.

Sen. Patricia Torres Ray, Chair of the Senate Parks & Trails Legacy Subcommittee and Rep. Mary Murphy, Chair of the House Cultural and Outdoor Resources Finance Division will be ipresent to offer their perspectives on key parks and trails issues facing the 2009 Legislature. This is your chance to speak with tthese key committee chairs as well as hear DNR Commissioner Mark Holsten give an overview of the state of Minnesota's parks and trails.

Parks & Trails Day on the Hill is your opportunity to network with other park and trail supporters from around the state, receive legislative updates and materials and hear from key legislative leaders as the 2009 Legislature considers several major issues impacting Minnesota’s park and trail systems. The schedule provides for a briefing in the morning, lunch and afternoon meetings with legislators.
