(ST. PAUL, MN) – Parks & Trails Council of Minnesota Acting Executive Director Brett Feldman issued the following statement after Gov. Tim Pawlenty today announced that the state had struck a deal with U.S. Steel to acquire land for Lake Vermilion State Park:

Applications are now being accepted for the new Parks and Trails Legacy Grant Program administered by the Department of Natural Resources (DNR).

Hikers and bicyclists are wanted to participate in outdoor recreation-based focus group discussions in Duluth and Rochester. The focus groups will take place between Sept. 29 to Oct. 15 and will offer a $mall gratuity payable to all participants.
