more...Bonding bill moves again – only to encounter line-item veto pen

After being in legislative limbo for the last two weeks, the Conference Committee on HF2700 reconvened last week and the House and Senate approved a bonding bill just shy of $1 billion. The Conference Committee attempted to reach agreement with Gov. Tim Pawlenty (who threatened to veto the entire bill two weeks ago) by adding in his top priority projects.

Lake Vermilion State Park is one step closer to becoming a reality this week. The bonding bill (HF2700) signed into law by Gov. Tim Pawlenty on March 15 contains the language needed for the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to move forward with acquiring the 3,000 acres along the south shore of Lake Vermilion from U.S. Steel.
