Legislature takes a break

By Judy Erickson, Governement Relations Director

Following an intense pace since session began, the Legislature is now in the middle of a week-long Passover/Easter break. Prior to the break, the Legislature has taken action on several of the major bills this year: the bonding bill, a jobs bill and the supplemental budget bill. When legislators return from the break they will continue work on the supplemental budget as the decisions on health and human services and K-12 spending have yet to be made.

For environment and natural resource issues, there is the omnibus environment and natural resources budget bill, the LCCMR recommendations and numerous smaller bills to finish.

It may be possible for the Legislature to complete their work and adjourn before the end of April. However, the Constitutional deadline is May 18. Stay tuned!
