President Obama's initiative to conserve outdoor spaces and reconnect Americans to the out-of-doors, made a national listening stop in Minneapolis and with grassroots support, one suggestion could make it to the top of the list.

The Legislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources will recommend to the 2011 Legislature that approximately $50.6 million from the state’s Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund be directed to 92 unique projects around the state.

Minnesota’s trail community lost a long time friend and advocate with the passing of Terry McGaughey, of Brainerd, at his home July 21. A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. Aug. 1 at the Northland Arboretum in Baxter.
