Committees

The Action Team is a self-selecting group of members who serve as Parks & Trails' eyes, ears and voice at the local level, to support legislative efforts, to assist with land acquisition opportunities and/or to identify fund development opportunities.

Eleanor Winston, Chair and Kandace Olsen, MN Environmental Fund Representative

This committee is in charge of fundraising activities and coordinating those activities with other committees, i.e. raising funds for a land acquisition project. The committee also works with the Minnesota Environmental Fund (MEF) to establish workplace payroll deduction giving programs.

Bob Erickson, Chair

This committee manages Parks & Trails finances, including the annual budgeting process and investing. The treasurer serves as chair, with seven voting members, including the president, who are elected at the annual meeting. Members with an interest in finances or investment expertise are encouraged to attend.

Mike Prichard, Chair

This committee is in charge of the Samuel H. Morgan Land Acquisition Fund and the management of its land acquisition projects from start to finish. The committee is elected by the board of directors and has seven voting and several non-voting members. Each land acquisition project has a project manager. Members wanting to help with land acquisition or suggest projects should contact the office.

Bob Nesheim and Jeff Olson, Co-Chairs

This committee is in charge of developing Parks & Trails legislative priorities and the Action Team network. It works with the Action Team to conduct workshops, write letters, call legislators and work with legislators. The committee is in need of members statewide.

Jeff Olson, Chair

This committee is responsible for recruiting new board members and finding speakers for the Annual Dinner and Meeting. Members are welcome to suggest board candidates at any time.

Marcia Hillestad, Chair

This committee is in charge of Parks & Trails Council's communications and developing information for media and membership outreach/development activities. The committee needs help to work on ongoing events, press releases, feature stories, membership materials, marketing, etc.

Ann Johnson, Chair

The function of the Personnel Committee is to ensure that organizational
management goals and activities are consistently being met in an effective
and efficient manner. Performance management can include both employee
performance and performance of the organization in relation to management
processes and which comply with local, state and federal laws.

John Leinen Jr., Organizer

Parks & Trails sponsors two trail clearing trips a year to help build and maintain the treadways of our state's trail system. Trips have included clearing various trails throughout the state and on the North Shore.
