Volunteers Complete Oak Savanna Habitat Restoration Project at Frontenac State Park

From Frontenac State Park Association

The Frontenac State Park Association has finished their project that intends to restore habitat in sections of the park with oak savanna. On a misty morning in October, volunteers planted the final nine trees. This closes out a season-long initiative that included planting oak and maple trees and native forbs, installing tree cages, and watering the plants to ensure their survival.

This project was funded by the Parks & Trails Council of Minnesota, using pass-through funds from the Henry S. Crosby Foundation. The Frontenac State Park Association garnered local funding support from the Frontenac Sporstmen’s Club and volunteer time from the Association’s membership.
