Statewide Health Improvement Partnership (SHIP)

Local Support Grants

Statewide Health Improvement Partnership (SHIP) supports community-driven solutions to expand opportunities for active living, healthy eating and commercial tobacco-free living, helping all people in Minnesota prevent chronic diseases including cancer, heart disease, stroke and type 2 diabetes. There are 41 partnership programs across the state, each with their own strategies for carrying out this mission. Many of the partnership programs provide technical assistance and/or small grants to support these efforts.

Find my SHIP Community Partnership

The best way is to find your SHIP contact on their website here. You can engage with them directly to find out if there are partnership or grant opportunities available.

Many community partnerships also have their own website or webpage. You can find those pages through a Google search including your county name and SHIP.

Funding Amount

Funding amounts vary by program, but will likely be in the few hundred to few thousand dollar range. Check with your local contacts for more details.

Projects that support active living typically align most closely with park/trail projects, such as direct engagement around biking and walking or infrastructure to support biking and walking (e.g. safe routes to school).
