Youth Engagement Grant Awards – Round 1

Five volunteer-led friends groups will implement youth engagement projects at state parks and trails this year, with support from the Minnesota DNR and funds issued by Parks & Trails Council of Minnesota (P&TC). The projects include organizing field trips, hosting recreation opportunities, and developing hands-on activities.

P&TC initiated this statewide grant program in 2019, which seeks to engage kids in positive outdoor experiences at state parks and trails. These projects complement long-term, youth engagements goals of parks and trails.

Friends groups are uniquely positioned to carry out these efforts thanks to their commitment to the stewardship of parks and trails. They support in various ways, from raising money and promotion, to advocacy and programming.
