Some State Park campgrounds have begun a phased reopening

As of June 1, the MnDNR reopened 38 state park campgrounds with limited services. Additionally, some camper cabins and yurts have reopened.

In general, the opened campgrounds have water systems and vault toilets/porta-toilets available. However, some showers, ranger stations and other value-added amenities and services remain closed.

Additional facilities will reopen over the next several weeks. The MnDNR anticipates the following general  timeline:

  • June 8, 2020: The DNR will reopen another 19 campgrounds and lodging facilities, most of the rest of the remote campsites, and some ranger stations.
  • June 15, 2020: A vast majority of the remaining campgrounds will open in state parks, recreation areas, and forests. Additional services, including the Mary Gibbs CafĂ© at Itasca State Park, fish cleaning buildings and some nature stores will also reopen with reduced capacities.

The MnDNR website has a full list of camping and lodging that have reopened.
