Restoring wood edge habitat

$5,000 grant

$550 local cash match

113 volunteer hours

Establishing stronger native ecosystems is important to keep out invasive species. Friends of Nerstrand Big Woods State Park carved out 0.5 acres of wooded edge/prairie habitat to establish a stronger and more resilient array of native plants. In their words, “Specific, visible accomplishments like these make it easier to engage new volunteers and raise funds for improvements.”
