To improve and expand Metropolitan Regional Parks and Trails
2018 Identified Need
The Metropolitan Regional Park System is owned and operated by 10 implementing agencies across the 7-county metro area. This system hosts nearly 50 million visitors annually. This project, if funded, would be matched with $10 million in local bonds.
Project identified as priority by Metropolitan Council
Bonding Bill (HF 4425) introduced that includes an appropriation of $10,000,000 to Metropolitan Regional Parks and Trails Capital Improvements for the cost of improvements and betterments of a capital nature and acquisition by the council and local government units of regional recreational open-space lands in accordance with the council’s policy plan as provided in Minnesota Statutes, section 473.147. This appropriation must not be used to purchase easements.
