Replacing vulnerable ash trees

$4,696 grant

$545 local cash match

15 maple trees planted

Emerald ash borer has devastated Minnesota, causing ash trees across the state to die. To maintain tree canopy and shade as well as improve the forest ecosystem, Friends of Maplewood stepped in to install and protect large sugar maple trees to replace some ash trees. Maple trees within the park are tapped annually for a maple syrup program.
