Check out some of the exciting events happening this year! The Friends of Bertram puts together some of their own events and also supports some other events put on at the park.
Open House with Membership Drive
Thursday, May 16, 6-8pm
Please join us for our second annual Friends of Bertram Membership Appreciation Open House and New Member Drive. All existing members, new members, and their families are welcome to join us. We will have food, beverages, music, presentations, a campfire, and more! Please register by May 10th if you are planning to attend.
Join for a 3.88 mile trail run or 2.25 mile jog/walk. Course is a mix of groomed hiking trails and single track bike trails. Proceeds to to the Phillip LaVallee Memorial Fund and the Friends of Bertram Lakes, supporting park development.
Timber Dash 5k Trail Run + Walk and Kid’s Race is a family-friendly event. This event caters to both beginner and advanced runners, health walkers and families who seek to raise their heart rates and support the Wright County Crisis Nursery. The Friends support race day sign-ins.
This is a fun fall celebration for the entire family sponsored by the Friends of Bertram Monticello Community Center, Wright County Parks and the YMCA Day Camp Manitou.
The Friends put on hay rides, find the apple in the haystack, pumpkin painting, rock painting, face painting, hot apple cider, campfire and s’mores bar. Activities such as archery at the YMCA portion of the park.
We have done two different photo contests and there were some very good entries. Cash prizes were given to the winners. We may do another photo contest in the future! Now that the land is completely acquired and a lot of new amenities have gone into the park, there will be great opportunities for new perspectives.
Snow Sculpture Contest
In the past we have done a Snow Sculpture Contest in combination with the city winter fun day at the Monticello Community Center, and we awarded small cash prizes. We have not had this the last few years due to weather; however, this winter would have actually worked very well! We hope to bring this back for next year as it was a popular event.
